3D & AR Product Design
Photorealistic 3D visualisation and augmented reality that let customers examine a product before it physically exists.
Photographing a product requires the product to exist, along with a studio, a set and a reshoot every time a variant changes. A 3D model requires none of that. Once it is built, every colourway, configuration and camera angle is a render, and the same asset drives your website, your marketing and an augmented reality view on a customer's phone.
The commercial case is strongest where products are expensive, configurable, or difficult to judge from a flat photograph — furniture, equipment, fittings, anything where the recurring question is whether it will fit and how it will look in place.
One asset, many outputs
We build a single accurate model with physically based materials, then derive everything from it. Marketing gets high-resolution renders. The website gets an optimised interactive viewer. Mobile gets an AR file that places the product in the customer's own room at true scale. Updating a finish means changing a material and re-rendering, not booking another shoot.
That economics shifts sharply in your favour as the catalogue grows. The first model carries the setup cost; every variant after it is comparatively cheap.
Augmented reality that works on the devices people own
In-place AR now works through the browser on both major platforms without an app install, using USDZ on iOS and glTF on Android. That removes the historical adoption barrier, but it imposes strict file budgets — an AR model that takes twenty seconds to load has already lost the customer.
We optimise geometry and textures against those budgets deliberately, producing a model that holds up visually at the scale people actually view it while staying small enough to load over mobile data. Getting true physical scale right matters as much as fidelity; the entire point is answering whether it fits.
Configurators for products with options
Where a product ships in multiple finishes, sizes or arrangements, a configurator lets customers assemble their exact specification and see it immediately. This reduces the pre-purchase questions your sales team fields, and it reduces returns caused by customers imagining something different from what arrived.
It also produces useful data. Which combinations people build and abandon tells you something about pricing and demand that a static catalogue never will.
What you receive
- Accurate 3D models with physically based materials
- High-resolution marketing renders in your required aspect ratios
- Web-optimised interactive viewer embeddable in your site
- AR files in USDZ and glTF for browser-based in-place viewing
- Product configurator for variants where applicable
- Source model files, so you are not locked to us for future variants
How we work
Timelines depend heavily on product complexity and the reference material available. Accurate CAD data or technical drawings shorten the work considerably; building from photographs alone takes longer and is less precise. We assess reference quality before quoting.
Frequently asked questions
What do you need from us to start?▾
CAD files or technical drawings are ideal. Failing that, comprehensive photographs from multiple angles plus accurate dimensions and material specifications. The better the reference, the more accurate the model and the less time spent on revision.
Do customers need to install an app to use AR?▾
No. Both iOS and Android support placing a 3D model in the room directly from a web page. The customer taps a button on your product page and the object appears through their camera at real scale.
Do we own the models afterwards?▾
Yes, source files included. You can take them to another studio for future variants or bring the work in-house. Withholding source files to guarantee repeat business is common in this field and we do not do it.
