Financial reports, price lists and statements often arrive as PDFs, but the moment you need to total a column or sort the rows, that locked-in data becomes a headache. PDF to Excel pulls tabular content out of a PDF and into a spreadsheet so you can calculate, filter and analyse it instead of retyping every figure by hand.

It saves hours of manual transcription when you are reconciling invoices, importing a supplier's catalogue or working with data that someone only sent you in PDF form.

Upload your PDF and the table data is extracted into a spreadsheet file you can open in Excel, Google Sheets or any compatible program. Once exported, the figures become live cells you can sort, filter and total.

Results depend heavily on how the table was constructed. PDF records where text sits on a page, not that it belongs to a grid — a table is only a table because the positions happen to line up. Extraction works by inferring structure from those positions, so clearly ruled tables with consistent column alignment come out well, while tables separated only by whitespace, or with merged and nested cells, are harder to reconstruct.

Tables spanning multiple pages are worth watching: repeated headers can appear as data rows partway down your spreadsheet.

Extracted figures should be verified, not trusted. The specific risks are worth knowing because they are quiet ones.

Column misalignment can shift a value into the wrong field, which produces a spreadsheet that looks entirely plausible and is wrong. Numbers can arrive as text, so they appear correct but will not sum. Negative figures shown in parentheses or with a trailing minus may not be interpreted as negative. Currency symbols, thousands separators and differing decimal conventions all cause silent misreads.

The quickest verification is arithmetic: if the source has a total, sum your extracted column and check the two match. That single test catches most extraction errors immediately.

If the PDF is a scan rather than a digital export, there is no text to extract at all — that needs OCR first, and recognition errors in figures are both likely and hard to spot.

Extraction runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded or stored. This tool is applied almost exclusively to financial material — bank statements, supplier invoices, price lists, management accounts — and that is a category most businesses have a policy about, whether or not it is written down.
